The Mission & Purpose of Marriage

What does it mean to be on mission in your marriage? This segment lays the foundation by walking couples through identifying values and priorities so they can better understand what they’re truly focused on. Since marriage is the primary earthly relationship, couples learn how to put their marriage first, above friends, extended family, and even children.

Andrew & Terri Lyke provide thoughtful insight to lead couples to an understanding of their role as a living sacrament, a reflection of God, and evidence that God exists. With this knowledge, they inspire cimmitment, perseverance, and tenderness through all of life’s ups and downs.

The segment covers loving habits, rituals, and daily practices that enrich relationships and fuel connection. It concludes with an explanation of a marriage mission statement and how couples can create their own.

Guiding Principles and Areas of Discussion:

  • It can be easy to take your good relationship for granted and not give it the priority it deserves.
  • Personal resource management skills are essential for maintaining a healthy relationship.
  • Your mission statement must acknowledge the grit and grace of marriage, otherwise it won’t be relevant or useful.
